  • We are excited to announce that Peoples Bank has entered into an agreement to merge with First Financial Bank – a strong, like-minded financial services provider that shares our commitment to serving customers, building lasting relationships, and strengthening our communities. 

    Founded in 1863 and headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, First Financial Bank is a strong regional financial institution with 153 financial centers across Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. First Financial offers the services Peoples Bank customers know today, along with additional products, resources, and locations to support individuals, families, and businesses. The bank has deep roots in the communities it serves – including Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland – and shares our commitment to building strong relationships and helping customers and communities grow. 

    While the transaction remains subject to regulatory and shareholder approval, it is expected to close in late 2026, with Peoples Bank transitioning to First Financial sometime in 2027. We will continue to share updates as they become available.
